  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Accident: Update 24th October

Do you want to come meet Morning, Omi? Aggressive rabbits pose an... interesting challenge.

I'm still thinking of getting another rabbit to bond with Tan and Tethra, so if I need "aggressive rabbit" advice, I'll know where to come :D

I think some rabbits get aggressive with the stress of bonding, even though they have never displayed any signs before. Sometimes it's just impossible to predict how they will react to stress - bit like humans I suppose :)

I'm going to do an update ... I haven't time now, but hopefully later this evening or tomorrow :)

Thank you for all the wonderful messages/txts and PMs which have kept me and little one going over the past weeks.

I am also going to respond privately as well xx

It's lovely to read of some progress. I think you have a lovely calming way about you so I think that has probably helped him enormously as well x

Our thoughts are with you and your dear bun, MM. After your support, it's the least we can do to help. We are praying and sending positive thoughts to you.
xxx

Thank you so much xx
So we have just allowed him to be with his chums for a short period, and things are going well :) He's had to be kept separate for feeding, and because sleeping on his heated bed has been so healing for him.
He still has access to his heated bed whenever he wants some peace and quiet. He will also require 'top up' food throughout the day.
He is the most loving rabbit. Never fought with another rabbit in his life. But he has attitude, and when that disappeared we knew things weren't right.
Hugs to all who have helped us along this unexpected journey x

It's so lovely he has been up to spending some time with his friends :) x

Thank you for all the support, from everyone who's posted here and to me privately. To those who have been generous enough to think of us despite having lost a beloved rabbit of their own. To will another on to live whilst having lost a part of themselves takes a very special kind of person

My lovely little boykin (I got that from you Omi :))

Following on from the visit to the specialist vet, who identified his absolute lack of energy and life force and downward spiral, we have been treating him as instructed and still are.

I have to report that our little lad is becoming even more 'himself' as the days go by. He has the choice to be apart from his friends and sleep in his heated bed, but he spends more times with his chums. We are no longer getting up to check through the night, and his appetite is returning with a vengeance :)

When I say he is becoming more himself, I mean that he seems have realised he has a second chance and has lost two weeks of his exciting life. We have to be ultra vigilant in that he is regaining his energy and yesterday did something quite unexpected. He jumped onto the low kitchen bench which is something he has never ever attempted in all the years he's lived here

I wonder if he's appreciating his life anew? Do bunnies think like that?

Whatever the reason, he's an inspiration to me to make the most of every day and treat it as a pocket full of exciting opportunity :D

I'm so pleased to see your update today. Your little boykin has made great progress (perhaps that should be leaps and bounds in view of his antics). Still lots of vibes and hugs and finger-crossing. x

Ah what a lovely update, just goes to show with all your love and care and not giving up, a bunny won't give up either.

I'm so happy to read this update :D been thinking of you and him daily, so nice to see all your hard work has paid off - hope he continues to flourish :) xx

"boykin" My son was always called "precious boykin" and my daughter was "precious girlie". Then after they both left home, my boykins and girlies were of the furry type  I digress

It is wonderful to get such a positive and heartwarming update. He obviously wants to stay with you a while longer
