  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bobby

I'm going to sleep now as I am really tired. I am really happy to help, Babs. Just text me and let me know once you have decided what to do xxx

Thank you for your support - Catherine only brought them back 10 days ago after spending well over a year being looked after by her. I'm almost frightened to go to bed tonight (as you can tell by the lateness of the hour) but there really isn't anything I can do: I've made him as comfortable as possible, given him another dose of Metacam, lots of hay, and Sable is cuddling him. They have such a strong bond.

Just a quick note as I'm in the middle of doing the buns but Violaine has sadly left. She was the other good vet there

Babs it's easier for me to tak via FB whilst I'm out with the buns x

I started chatting to you on FB before I saw this. x

How is Bobby doing? Would you like me to come over after work? I finish work at 1130 so it would be about 1230 xx

Am going to work shortly. Please text me if you would like me to come over as I am seeing a private client so don't have internet access while I am working.

Babsie, my thoughts are with you and Bobby. My most fervent wishes for his recovery to be swift and complete. xxxxxxx

I've heard from K (Rhianna) this morning. She is very kindly coming over to take 'us' to the vet when she has finished work, so am going to check on Bobby and ring vet. Unfortunately I haven't been able to do anything this morning as not well.

Hi babsie , I also live in Hampshire if you ever need anything. I also had trouble with my Charlie but unfortunately we didn't make it until John got back. I saw a nice vet called michaela (can't spell) who was good. I saw a locum called charlotte who I wasn't keen on . How is Bobby?

I hope that Bobby gets on OK at the Vets later and that you will be feeling a bit better soon too. It can be very difficult coping alone when we are physically unwell ourselves xx

Hope you get on well at the vet Babsie. Vibes to you both.

I'm sorry you're not well.
One person managing the rabbits when they are not well is something I'm all too familiar with and it's very difficult xx
