Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Blood on Bears paws

Just popped out to see the rabbits and noticed blood on Bears front paw, and a tiny bit on his back paw. There isn't much but he's white so it stands out...

We've had a good look at him and can't see where it's come from on either rabbit.

Does anyone know a potential cause...? Thanks!

Are all of his toenails intact ?

Sometimes they can pull their dew claw out. Check his front legs. On our previous rabbits they kept it clean and it grew back.

He cleaned it up so no visible signs of an issue. Not limping or anything and happy to put his paw on the cage etc.
Will check on him in a minute but he seems fine :)

Only just seen your post Chris. I hope all is well. I took a rabbit (not my own) to the vet a while ago with this exact same issue.

We made sure that all the nails were cut fairly short, as otherwise they can get caught on things and rip themselves off :)
