  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Pippin update with results

Mervinius, I need an update on Pip and her fur pulling please :)
Hi MM.

Pip is doing ok. She had almost grown her fur back, but started pulling again Wed last week. Although she must be doing it at night, because I've not seen her doing it!

We've decided not to do anymore tests.

The vets and I think if it was something medical we must have cured it along the way because she has been given a clean bill of health. However it is an ingrained behaviour now so she is likely to always do it.

The good news is that it hasn't caused her stasis for a while (touch wood) so we just need to keep an eye on her and we can give her metacam if needed.

She's currently bouncing around the sofa.

I think it must be a relief to you all to stop stressing about it, and accept that it's her and that's who she is :)

I hope she continues to be well and it not cause her any gut issues.

No-one could've done any more than you :)

Yes. Now I know she's healthy I can relax around them and I think they can sense that.

She's been much more chilled and flopping on the sofa more.

Archie would like you to know that thanks to your inspiration he has been re styling all our wooden furniture. Especially all the drawer handles!!!!! They all have a new texture to them. Lol

Relaxation is all good :D

Archie - well done! We like the sound of textured drawer handles. Smooth and knobby is plain boring

What's funny is he's not ever nibbled them before but we've moved the room around and he's decided they now need a good chewing. They look like someone's taken a cheese grater too them!

Archie - good to 'voice' your objection over the room being moved around! :thumb:

He's very pleased with his objections.

What he doesn't know is we are getting a new smaller sofa next week!! So he won't be able to sprint around on it as easily. But there will be more floor space!

Was hilarious in the sofa shop. We asked for a bunny safe Sofa!!!!

Do they exist?

Well they certainly don't market one!!!

We picked one that they can't get under and the arms and head rest is low and wide enough for them to sit on!

For such tiny rabbits they like to be up really high!

It also came with a warranty that if they chew it we can get it fixed for free. :)

Yes way too late for those but we might change them for metal ones!

Just gave them some forage treats in their castle....which of course they never chew

Sorry pics are blurry. They wouldn't stay still
