Hello All,

I hope someone can help me.

My Rabbit 'Cena' who is 6 months old on Monday jump out of my hands on to the floor and wasn't able to run on the back hind leg, We took him straight to the Vet they had a look and got the metacam for him after 2 day not much had changed but we want to make sure nothing was broken so booked in for a X ray next day phone call and found out nothing was broken aand could have been a ligament damage or muscle damage, he needs bed rest for up to 6 to 10 weeks. Cena pretty much is King in our house and is always running around for over 3 hour a night and for the bed rest needs to stay in his hutch for 6 to 10 weeks. how can you keep him enterained for this ?? I keep every hour talk to him and stroke him feed him hay but when I'm at work I don't want him bored #

Hello

I am sorry to hear of Cena's accident. I would suggest providing her with a variety of chew toys to try to keep her entertained. Here are a few recommendations:

https://www.thehayexperts.co.uk/herby-birch-tunnel.html

Apple tree twigs are also good for chewing.

I hope that Cena makes a full recovery x

Hi there and welcome to the Forum

I am sorry to hear about your rabbit Cena. It's so easily done for a rabbit to jump and damage themselves.

I am glad to hear that Cena is a houserabbit as that means he will still have your company and hear your voice throughout the day. You will be able to talk to him and pet him a lot!

There is a fantastic company in the UK that do wonderful things for rabbits, and they are called The Hay Experts. You can browse their website to find the toys, herbs and hay that can be bought from them:

https://www.thehayexperts.co.uk

The carrot cottage is a particularly wonderful invention, and you can buy that from the above company, or you may be able to get it cheaper at another place:

I always like to feed my rabbits forage and fresh grass, which also provides more chewing opportunities:

And apple, willow, hazel, hawthorn, pear tree twigs will provide endless chewing fun for Cena. You can buy them online, or if you know anyone who has them, they can perhaps give you a small supply?

Seagrass mats are also a good idea for rabbits to chew on. I sometimes hang them vertically so they can chew on them as they wish :)

There may be some other ideas here for you:

Thank you all. Last couple of days Cena has been walking and binking alot properly and seems he's self again, but still resting up or trying too ha. I will probably get the toys for him as he's a very spoilt lionhead Rabbit.

Thank you again :)

It sounds as though he is well on the way to recovery. Just tell him he has to pace himself !
