would these mats be suitable to line an outside rabbit run

http://www.homebase.co.uk/en/homebaseuk/outdoor-play-rubber-paver-in-green---100mm-375140 our run is in the proccess of being built is 2 metres by 4 metres was for chickens so has gravel that we are removing leaving wire base on weed liner thought i could get 8 of these to lay on top cannot afford concrete or paving. would these be safe for rabbits to run around on obviously toys and fodder/ grass pots would be provided but as a surface would these be ok or not?

I think it would depend on your rabbits, mine would just nibble away at them. They do seem expensive, wouldn't paving work out cheaper? I used paving slabs like these in my run http://www.homebase.co.uk/en/homeba...eford-paving-smooth-450-x-450mm---grey-410253 and laid them myself, bought some bags of sand to make the base more level. For 2m x 4m run I think you'd need 45 of those slabs so under £135 plus maybe £10 worth of sand whereas the rubber ones would be £192 for 8.

I was also thinking that cheap paving would be cheaper than these, and possibly easier to lay, as well as being definitely bunny proof. You also wouldn't need to mesh underneath the slabbed area, but I would put a weed suppressant membrane down first.

eg Wickes basic paving at £13.78 m2.

A builder's merchant would probably be cheaper still, and could also deliver a tonne bag of their cheapest sand as a base.

Ebay local offers and other freecycle type sites would be cheaper still. There are usually some 3'x2' concrete slabs going. They are heavy, but once down are there for good.

I agree about the price but in store the mats are 13.99 and some of the run will be raised bed
