Boey had gastro surgery today

Thanks all we are very excited. Sure he's going to grow up loving bunnies too!

Boey seems much brighter today think his day and night of resting has really helped. They keep touching noses through the baby gate. Tempted to let them together later.

Glad to hear that he's doing well today. Seperating a pair when one's been in hospital can cause problems with the bond and bunnies seem to know when another is ill and can turn against them. The good news is that they are usually successfully rebonded. I think going with your gut instinct about it is the way to go as you know them best. I usually keep my pair in a smaller space for 24 hours, such as locking them in the shed if they've been separated for any length of time. It gives a quiet environment for the poorly bun to recouperate in and I think helps to re-establish the bond. But, as I said, you know them best, just so pleased that there has been a good outcome.

Rabbit can react differently when one's been poorly. I've found that the one left behind can't wait to have them back, and sometimes grooms and snuggles too ferociously. Other times a rabbit can be a bit suspicious.

I hope you can get them back together again. Now you know that's the reaction they have, it may give a clue as to when one of them is poorly in the future.

Good vibes for Boey x

We have had 2 dates. First went ok they shared some greens then tron started getting skittish and lunging which made boey chase her with his tail up. We broke it up really quick given his condition. We have since swapped them over so tron in thwir bedroom and boey in the hall and had a short second date. This went much better we gave them headrubs whilst they were squashed together and it was a good 10 minutes we ended positive and everyone's snoozing in their own place again. Still debating what to do about the vets tomorrow will see how they get on tonight and tomorrow as appointments not until 430pm

Good to see them together. Hope they can be patient and let it work!

Glad the vet is pleased and Boey is doing so well :)

I am glad you and your vet were able to get a quick diagnosis, expert care, and wonderful home care for him to make such a dramatic improvement. Your bunnies are both beautiful. Also, congratulations on your baby.

Just a quick update. Boey is the picture of health, eating everything pooing like a demon and bouncing round like a young buck. Him and tron have been together since 6am yesterday and are snuggling, grooming & loving each other again. 🐰😍🐰

Very good news :D Well done to Boey, to you and your vet, also to Tron for his patience.

I was going to ask you today if you hadn't reported back, so thank you for the update!

Really, really great news :D

Well boey is refusing to eat and sitting in a corner huddled in pain. He was fine this afternoon and earlier this evening then took himself off upstairs and when we went to check on him he was all limp with cold ears. We have given him some metacam and zantac but no improvement.

Not sure what to do, emergency vets or wait until morning and take him to the ones who did his operation and i know are rabbit specialists

Oh no, poor Boey :( I'm sorry to read this.

I think it's difficult to know what to do, but with his recent history of the op I think I would take him to an emergency vet rather than wait. At least you would have the reassurance that he'd been examined and also if you still were concerned about him tomorrow you could always take him back to the vet who did his op.

Sending loads of vibes for him.

Hi Stuart.

I'm sorry I didn't see this earlier.

From what you describe, there is no doubt in my mind that you should see a vet asap.

You may have already done so.

Vibes for Boey x

Not good news  I hope that Boey has been seen by a Vet now and that he is on the appropriate treatment xx
