  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Propalin in Male Rabbits - Anybody Had Any Experience?

As title suggests, anybody tried this? Any experience?

The Buck I was caring for earlier this year was also having acupuncture. So I dont know if it was that, the propalin or an increased analgesic cover that bought about an improvement. His urinary problems were associated with severe arthritis, not EC. I cant remember what dose of propalin was prescribed.

I have messaged Bunny Babe.

Very little information to be found generally .. sigh.

Indeed - I think it's one to be guided by your vet. I still have some propalin left in a bottle, and of course I know the dosage etc ... but I have found vets on the whole (and I've spoken to several as well as my own) haven't used it on rabbits and are fairly cautious.

Yes, I had mentioned it to my vet, who has never used it on rabbits before and she was very cautious. However, I know she is open to its possibilities if Molly suggests it, which she has but she is not herself convinced.

Oh yes whoops sorry, she was a girl!

And a beautiful one too

I have just remembered that an RU member, username 'Snowy' had a male Rabbit who had EC related incontinence and I think he was treated with Propalin. 'Snowy' does not post on here any more, but if you sent her a PM she may get an email alerting her to it.
