Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hair loss in doe

Young Bun
Hi all!

I noticed this morning that Clara has lost some hair on either side of her, just by her hips/back legs, in the same place on each side. I thought this was rather odd and picked her up to check her out. There's no baldness underneath, just a patch of short dark hair, so I'm thinking it was the sudden heatwave we had. However, I did find a creature that looked somewhat mite-ish when I was emptying the litter trays. I also know sometimes females do pull out fur but Clara's showing no signs of making a nest and she was neutered a long while ago, so she's got less chance of that, I think. Any opinions? I don't think it's anything harmful but if I see any change in her skin I'll take her to a vet.

If there are signs of fur regrowth, it may just be a sudden moult and hopefully nothing to worry about. One of mine is the same at the moment.
