Thread: Mating through bars?

    Default Mating through bars?

I have a Flemish Giant named Hazel, who loves to escape from her run. One day I left the run door slightly askew, and she got out. I found her lying on one side of Parsley's run. The bars there are pretty wide. Parsley is a mixbreed, and I don't know if he's neutered or not. Can rabbits breed througn bars??!!

    Rabbits can't breed through bars.
How old is Hazel and is she spayed?

No they can't mate through bars, the male has to actually physically mount the female which cannot happen in such a way!

    No

But to avoid any 'accidents' in the future I'd get a Vet to check if your Buck is neutered, it should be pretty obvious. If he's not then I'd get him done.

Personally I'd get the Doe spayed too, unless you are actually intending to breed from her

Thank goodness! Thanks for your help. And because I keep them separate, there's no need to waste money on spaying. Pars is to old for me to feel comfortable with it, and I believe it will only make them upset, unhappy...there's no way. Thanks anyway, for your concern!

Spaying protects Does from uterine infections and cancer. Both of which are very common in Does aged 5+, sometimes even younger
