Crikey, poor Bea. Have you checked that she hasn't chewed through an electrical wire and got a shock?
Please Note - Medical Advice
Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.
You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.
We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.
Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.
With Sylar I almost expect it but it always hits me hard with the others... she full of beans now. Munching away in her litter tray.
It was both legs She was dragging them behind her.
I hope you get to the bottom of it all & more importantly no more occurrences. It sounds like its all forgotten for Bea.
I had a bun who once lost use of her back legs (for an evening) but she didn't drag herself, she just couldn't get up. She also lay with her back legs out which whilst usual for most buns was not something she'd done before. It didn't return for her. Her specialist said it was not uncommon but I'm sure she meant that in the context of Noodleys other health issues? I'm thinking it might be worth discussing EC treatment with your vet when you discuss xrays ?
You wouldn't believe it. Fell asleep on the sofa, went upstairs and Hiro was under the chair, shaking like a leaf and refusing to eat. The same thing has happened a few times in the last 6 months so our vet gave us meds incase it happens again, we rang them to ok it first and he's just had them.
I keep wondering if it's too hot in the house? It's on the high side but I aim at between 16-21° and it's 21.8 so nothing to drastic.
Argh Another sleepless night. 2 sick rabbits and a limping Hamster. I guess they do say it comes in 3's!
There was a bit of thunder earlier today but it was at around midday and he's been fine until when I found him like this at 4am. It is very humid though.
His tummy always feels ok and the turn around is always quick. My vet also suggested that he may get headaches occasionally. He's also got a deformed cochlea so I don't know if that could cause these kind of problems for him?
Thank you! Hiro is nibbling now so another quick turnaround for him. It doesn't seem to be his guts so I'm leaning towards head aches. Jane, do you have any links or info regarding atmospheric changes possibly causing headaches etc? I will definitely be making a note of weather conditions, temperature and humidity going forward. Maybe we will see a pattern.
MimzMum, that is certainly an interesting theory. Just caught up on uour your thread and happy to see that there have been no further rolling incidents!
