Fur stuck in mouth

Hi my mini lop doe has been fur pulling she built a nest last month and pulled fur she isn't pregnant she isn't for breeding. She started to pull her fur again tonight iv just been out to feed my buns she had a big lump of fur sticking out her mouth I went to pull it out and a great big lump came out it was a lot of fur to fit in a rabbit mouth. Is this normal do they store fur in there mouth for so long or could it of got stuck. I got her out to check her mouth and couldn't see any more.
Any advice please
Many Thanks Emma

Yes, a nesting Doe can hoard a HUGE amount of fur in her mouth. It seldom causes problems. However, having pseudopregnacies is very stressful so I would strongly advise that you consider getting her spayed. Not only to improve her quality of life now but also to prevent uterine infections and cancer when she is a bit older

Hi Emma

It's usually quite OK, and they manage it. It's the doe's instinct to do this, as it's what happens as you know when they have babies.

If this were my doe (and I have taken on ex-breeding does) then I would definitely get her spayed. Is this something you think you might want to do in the future? It would stop this sort of behaviour, which can be quite stressful both for you and for her:

Thank you both for replying il will look into getting her spayed as that sounds the best. Many Thanks Emma

That sounds to be a good idea. I dont know if your Rabbits are vaccinated (Nobivac Myxo-RHD and Filivac RHD2 Vaccines) but if not I would strongly advise you to get that done first. Especially the Filivac, there have been numerous confirmed RHD2 deaths in the Kent area

Yes very aware they are all done but my 2 new babies which are being done the end of the month.

I believe there is another nastie they have or are about to realise in Australia I think it's called k5 or something like that.
Many thanks emma
