  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Chipped Molar? UD

Her hock is totally fine, healed up quickly and well.

Just nervous for what the vet is going to say now, kind of wish they'd X-ray so I know for certain the medication is working or not. She's definitely no worse. I have noticed she hasn't drank much since Sunday, but the majority of what she's eating is veg/dandelions/grass.

Is she sedated for the X-Ray? Perhaps the vet doesn't want to do another one so close to the previous?

She is a stunning rabbit  Sending lots more vibes for her and I hope her vet visit went well.

Thanks Omi :D

No she wasn't sedated for the X-ray, she doesn't feel like doing another one today would be worth the stress it will cause her when she doesn't think it'll show much in only two days. The visit went ok, she hoped there would be more of an improvement which I kind of knew. She did say that there was slightly better breath sounds in her lungs, she could hear the air moving a bit more. Back on Monday for a follow up, repeat X-ray and possibly an ultrasound of the heart. She's upped her furosemide a bit. Feeling a bit meh :(

Give it time! Things are moving in the right direction.

I am glad she's upped the furosemide. That's what I would've suggested if there wasn't marked improvement in a couple or so days.

Vibes for more improvement and less fluid on the lungs! xx

Yeah she's on a full tablet daily now instead of 3/4.

I'm just terrified her heart is going to give out and she'll drop dead

It's scary. However, on the furosemide things should get better.

Did the vet say whether her heartbeat was faster or normal?

Thanks Zoobec!

She didn't say about her heart rate but I am guessing faster. She was so stressed with the car journey (40 mins) and she doesn't do well with journeys at the best of times.

This morning she has slightly pushed her bed away from the wall. She hasn't done that for a long time. Quite often overnight when she's well she'll push her bed around and have a good go at the flooring behind it!

I attempted to give her her medication after work and she seemed very agitated so I put her back in the shed to settle. She collapsed and died as soon as I put her down.
