You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Corrugated Pipes & Rabbit Feet

Hello,

I'm struggling to see, how it's just me and Foxy who have had this problem with corrugated pipes and developing sore hocks.

Has anyone else had problems with feet who uses a runaround/welfare hutch pipe system?

As my other other post, am going to develop my own independent system taking ideas from both current off the shelf options.

Sorry I cannot offer any input as I have never used the runaround pipes. But I am just bumping your thread up for you x

Tapla has very very very minor sore hocks... just that the fur on the hocks is slightly less thick. They have a 28ft runaround tube, a shed with lino on the floor, and a run with a patio bottom. I think a combination of the both has caused it in Tapla. It's been very stable for the entire time she's had the tube (5 years?) so not comparable but I could see how it could become an issue in any buns predisposed to sore hocks etc.

Runaround offer den pipes which are 9 inches in diameter, which you can fill with soil as seen here: http://www.runaround.co.uk/products/den-hide-dig. Depending on the length of the connection that you need, this would probably really help the sore hocks issue. Soil is a perfect substrate for sore hocks.
