  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Now Ted's in stasis - Couple of pics of them both 14 Feb

...and did they enjoy it? :D

Yes it should have been a very straightforward question/answer with your vet. Doesn't exactly inspire confidence

I'm glad to hear he's doing OK xx

Yes they did, although it was apparently absolutely freezing.

You're right about the confidence thing - it's the first time our chain of practices has had an exotics specialist (or certainly whilst we've been clients anyway) so we were really pleased to hear there was one starting. But I would rather someone was more decisive when we're relying on them to know what's best. Having said that, he did say they had cisapride at one of the other branches and he hasn't been prescribed that before, at least not as far as I can remember. So from that perspective I did think he knew what he was talking about, as I believe that's often considered the most effective drug but you can't always get hold of it. We did have an interesting discussion about drug dosages as well, so I think he knows what he's doing but no I didn't feel confident that he was so indecisive!

(ETA - we're going to see Martyn's mum for a bit now. There may be delayed responses - I'm not ignoring anyone!)
