Oat Grass

Hi All,

Nicholas the Nethie is a great Hay eater & I have recently introduced him to Oat Grass, he's an indoor bunny & doesn't get the real thing (well, forage & hand cut grass during the better weather). He loves it & still munches plenty of Hay. Is it too calorific to free feed? He has multiple sources of Hay to keep things interesting & at the moment a little willow basket with Oat Grass in it.

Cheers

I free feed it, but not all the time.

E.g they'll get their hay bar full of it until the bag runs out. Once the bag runs out they go a month or so until I buy another bag.

Yet to see any issues with them in regards to urine and faecal output.

Thanks DaphnePhoebe. Nicholas certainly enjoys it & his pooh looks great. I'm thinking about making a mix up with Oat Grass, Readigrass, Timothy Readigrass & possibly Galens Garden forage (I have a spare small wheely bin) to add some variety for both him & Alexandra outside who eats a lot more volume being a Conti.

I shouldn't think it's any more calorific than readigrass? I have free feed that for 20+ years and had no obesity or other issues. Good dentition ensues from all the grinding though :)

Nicholas says that's wonderful news as he wouldn't like to give it up! Thank you as always MightyMax [emoji4]
