Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Metacam on a Biscuit?

Is it okay to give metacam on a biscuit instead of orally?

Bunny is getting a bit less willing to be picked up for medication time.

Just wondered :)

Yes, as long as you can be sure that all of the medicine is eaten, it's fine to put in in other foods.

That's my theory, get as much of the dosage in as I can lol! They can be little monkeys, had us running around earlier on and then she starts panting which makes me feel awfully guilty :(

I have used a Malted Shreddie to put unpalatable medication on. Most Rabbits seem to love them.

They are certainly little monkeys - I wonder why they ever called them rabbits

I have often mixed metacam with excel for buns that won't luck it off a spoon. I've never had a rabbit who was easy to pick up, and the stress of being picked up for meds when they're I'll just makes them even more likely to go off their food.

I don't think they necessarily get the whole dose mind, but they probably get more of it than they would if I tried to syringe feed them. It's always dribbling out or spat out.

My vet recommended squeezing metacam into a grape when I had to give it to one of my rabbits. It was a bit messy as obviously grapes are full of liquid anyway so I squeezed it slowly between two grapes and it was eaten along with the grape no problem.
