Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Spot on bunnies nose

Hi
Does anyone know what this could be?
Small spot on bunnies nose. She looks fine, is still eating & drinking. Eyes are bright & not wet or weeping. No swelling anywhere.

A while ago, can't remember when but i'm sure its been a year now.
If it is a myxi nodule its a lot smaller to my other bunnie that had one. I'm sure her nose lump was grey/black. But this was quite a few years ago so can't be 100%. The lump should eventually fall off shouldn't it?

Yes,it looks as though it already has. But it is very important that you take her to a Vet, even if she is seeming to be fine within herself.

You obviously have experience of nodular myxi, and I'm sorry to hear of this lump you've found on your bunny.

You should consult a vet, as the rabbit will need antibiotic cover for any secondary infection and also pain relief to damp down inflammation.

Good luck xx

I'm finding it difficult to enlarge the photo to get a better look, but another possibility is Treponematosis (Rabbit Syphilis). The nodules look quite similar and are usually around the nose. Genitals are not always involved.

I think it's important to get a vet to examine your rabbit as it is very likely that she will need medication.
