  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

RAbbit Savvy Vet ..Wakefield / Leeds area

Bunny with jaw abscess in need of a Rabbit Savvy Vet in Wakefield / Leeds area.
Any recommendations appreciated

I have been to a local vet but abscess has rapidly returned in 5 days
Feel really disheartened and feel bunny needs better attention.

Yes Sarah Brown at Holly House at Moortown. She's recently dealt with a jaw abscess for Kyla for me. I've moved there as I have a new job and can't get to Harrogate so easily now, but I've been really pleased with Sarah, although she only works Weds and Thurs. Apparently Ellie is also good, but I've yet to meet her.

I agree with Holly House.

I use chantry vets (they have a few branches in the Wakefield area) but there's one vet who knows about rabbits there. We ask for him. Someone on here recommended him

On that list it says vets 4 pets in Wakefield. I wouldn't actually recommend them for bunnies. I did use them but not anymore. I think they're fine for cats etc but not bunnies
