  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Becky..............

hi,
well it was when part of the spin had what looks like a bridge growning over a bit of the spin and i think it attacked a nerve as she couldnt walk that well and in the end she lost the use of them compeatly and had to be PTS
the vet sed it was due to inbreeding and this is where breeders r given a bad name again, well i think there all chain link breeders and a pet shop takes on so many breeders and only uses then so thses breeders have to produce some many baby rabbits for this pet shop and keep so littel rabbis so they can make money so the rabbits produced might of come from parents that r bro and sis so the rabbis r inbread, so i wount bye from a pet shop that have 'there own breeders'
hope that makes sence

 I think that's what's happened to Snowball. She's on cage rest just now and has regained some of the use of her back legs, she even managed to thump at me yesterday cos I wasn't quick enough with her breakfast. Oh well........ I'll just have to shower her with even more love and attention. :( Thanks Becky
