  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Detached Lens

She was home a grand total of five minutes before she started tucking into her pellets and forage. She's also eaten kale, had some soft hay (can't have normal hay in case it pokes), and she's done a mountain of poos, tooth purred next to me and she groomed me for ten minutes solid. What a wonder bun.

 She's saying thank you

Bless her !! I hope she continues to recover well and that she can soon meet her new friend xx

Update - still eating, normal poops, acting as if nothing happened. I was so worried because of her age, but she's taking it all in her stride. I'm so relieved.

Sometimes they do surprise us with their resilience and durability, don't they?

Long may it last! :D

Little update:
She's recovering really well, she has taken it all in her stride. When she came home she started eating straight away, tucked into her pellets and behaved like nothing had happened. The wound was covered with a sutured on patch for three days, and then it was taken off. This is how it looks at one week post surgery. I'll keep updating every week so people can see it in case they ae in the same situation in the future.
