  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

No vets in my area (Thurrock) have even heard of the RHD2 vaccine.

As stated above, I have more information on this than my vets do. I tried several in the area, and they all look at me blankly/say sorry can't help you.

Does anyone know of a vets in the Thurrock area that actually does this vaccine. Or alternatively anyone who has managed to get their rabbits vaccinated be able to get the manufacturer name / product code from their vet for me?

Some of the areas I take my children have wild rabbits, and I am concerned.

I just looked up Thurrock, and it's in the Essex area? Isn't that the same rough-ish area as Santa is in? Perhaps you could PM Santa and ask where she had her rabbits vaccinated.

It may be a bit to travel, but obviously worth it.

I'm going to have to travel a bit to get mine vaccinated, though no idea where to yet

Santa goes to the same vet as me, which is Vets4Pets Braintree (the other option being Maldon, as the two are linked together). This might be a bit of a trek for you.

I live in Dartford just over the bridge and I go to Maidstone Trinity vets. They are brilliant there, all exotic vet specialists. It takes me 30 minutes to go there but I don't trust anywhere else.

I always see Mark Rowland who heads up the practice. If you google him you will see how great he is, he saved my little rabbit when others told me she was well.

That may be a bit closer to you as well :D

Vets 4 Pets in Romford posted on FB a few days ago to say that they would have the vaccine in from Monday just gone.

I just called Trinity and spoke to the receptionist and she knew what I was talking about. They have ordered it and it should be in at the end of the month.

I just called them and the receptionist I spoke to didn't know. Think it depends on whether you get a vet nurse or receptionist. Mine are seeing Mark for their other vaccinations next week so going to talk to him about it. :)

I just called Vets 4 Pets in Romford to see if I could find out more info and the receptionist there wasn't aware either but she checked with the head vet, Alberto. Apparently the vaccine isn't in yet; they were hoping it would be here today but it's been delayed & to check in a few days. If you do ring up to enquire & the receptionist doesn't have any info, then mention that you've seen it on the fb page and ask them to check with the head vet.

Haha that's weird. I know the girl I spoke to, it's their regular receptionist. I think they have a receptionist who has been there a couple of months so maybe you spoke to her. She said Mark was recommending it, but can you just let me know what he says to you. Doughnut had her regular one in May.

Thank you

I live in Aveley, so Romford really isn't very far from me. I don't drive & my husband works office hours and then some, but being a vets 4 pets they actually open when he's not in work. Yay.

I've just phoned them and been put on the list to be notified when it arrives. :D

Thank you everyone.

I have a habit of confusing people when I'm talking to them on the phone so I might've managed to do that. Will let you know :) it's the 1st of July so possibly they might have it in by then *hopes*

Quick bump to say that V4P Romford apparently now have it in stock so if you're in the area and haven't found anywhere else that has it, V4P Romford may be able to sort you :D
