  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Wet mouth after stasis - Almost better!

He's a bit dozy! Still only 24 hours since the anaesthesia though, so to be expected. He keeps wanting to come for a hop around, then crashes after 10/15 minutes! At least he has chance to get out and move around. He's let himself back in to poo (god forbid he poops outside in full view of everyone!) and when I put him back in he drinks, nibbles some hay and bunny flops

I've tried to tempt him with a little strawberry and some red pepper which he's nibbled a little, but hasn't shown much interest in. He's had a bit of leafy lettuce and a few more pellets

He's been fab today. Really struggling to get his Baytril in... so I tasted it and I can sympathise with the poor boy!

He's eating so much, I'm so happy. I've been sneaking him various bits and bobs, but that means I then have to give some to the piggies as they're super squeakers! I will add some pictures soon, I'm not sure I've put up pictures since we've had them as I've been at uni most of the time. They are gorgeous. When he got back in from his hop around tonight he pooped a lot. They're getting lighter too, so I'm happy with that progress.

I did cancel his follow up appointment this afternoon in the end. I rang as soon as they opened so someone could have an emergency spot if they needed, I didn't think it was worth stressing him out in the car if he was happy and doing well. Hopefully I can stop checking his poo area soon as he seems to find it quite embarrassing!
