Scurry free, Skittle

Angie B

Wise Old Thumper
The vet had to help Skittle to the Bridge tonight

He was an old man, we reckon born on or around Valentine's Day in 2014, so he was 2 years and 4 months old.

He's been going downhill steadily and the past few days in particular have been bad for the poor mite.

He's now at peace.

Both my daughter and I are in bits. He was a dear little thing, Niamh's first hamster. Never bit us once, made us laugh countless times with his antics and he will be sorely missed.

For such a small creature he will leave a gaping hole.

Scurry free little fella. RIP. You are pain free now, sleeping, which is what you were telling us you needed and although it was a hard decision, we listened and helped you.

We love you, Skittle, and will never forget you

(The vet gave Niamh a sympathy card with inked paw prints and a pack of forget-me-not seeds, which I thought a most kind and thoughtful gesture.)

Sorry to hear that you have had to let your friend go, sometimes the kindest things are the hardest.

Scurry free little one.

Thank you everyone x

He was a dear little thing and for a tiny critter he took up a massive space in the lounge with his 2 cages. It's strange now just seeing a gap where he used to live :(. And your post is spot on, Riggs. He only fit in my hand (the whole of it though) but he was an enormous part of my life really. It will take a long time to get used to him not being around :( x

So sorry you have lost Skittle. It is absolutely horrid having to say goobye to our furries, large or small. Scurry free sweet one, you are very much missed. Xxx

So sorry that you have lost Skittle, it's very true, it doesn't matter how big or small they are, they still leave a massive hole in our hearts. Run free little Skittle xxxxxx
