Perhaps one day soon it will become as routine to vet and owner as the myxo is

I've just had notification from RWAF that they have posted additional information on their RHD2 page

    https://rabbitwelfare.co.uk/rabbit-h...rther-reading/

There is info about Eravac and it's use.

High risk situations are thought to be rescue centres and breeders.

    I hope this helps

My vet notified me this morning of a Filavac shortage, but it's not affecting all practices. If your rabbits are due I suggest calling your surgery ahead of time to be sure they have it in stock. Apparently there's no shortage of the 50 dose vials of Filavac, but of course they would need to be used up within a specified time so not suitable for all practices.

If you decide to vaccinate with Eravac instead of Filavac, please be aware that the vaccine has only been tested for efficacy to 9 months and not one year, so you'll have to make sure the vet puts the correct date for the booster on the vaccination card.

You can always ring and ask the vet for the price of Eravac before you travel, and of course make sure it's in stock.

    I hope his helps!

Hi- just wanted to let people know that there’s been a number of sudden deaths in rabbits in fife over the last week. None confirmed but highly suspicious

Product recall of filavac due to incorrect storage during shipment - hopefully they've picked this up early from record keeping rather than as a result of investigating vaccine failures - but worth checking your vaccination cards for batch number just to be on the safe side.

Yet again it highlights the importance of temperature control as being vital to the efficacy of various medicines - and I suspect one of the reasons that bulk vaccinations at home are more risky as they are likely to breach the temperature requirements in transit and potentially in a domestic fridge before use!
