Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Update on lily: EC vs middle ear disease

LisaL

New Kit
So lily has a CT scan today and I've just brought her home tonight - after 2 weeks on lapizole and a week on anti inflams and anti biotics her head tilt was straightening and she was getting more energy which was good to so, but having picked her up tonight she does have middle ear disease in both ears.

The vet was at a slight loss as to what to recommend, admitting he wasn't a bunny specialist but that he'd send the scan back to our vet, speak to his colleague who does specialise in rabbits & exotic animals as well as sending up to Edinburgh ( assume CT experts up there) so at the moment unsure on what our options are.

Luckily lily seems in relatively good spirits considering, and I think is happy to be home , her buddy however who has been with her today promptly stripped upstairs in the hutch when I let her out!

So we have a bit if a waiting game now as our vet gets hold of them, today's vet gets a specialist opinion and we figure out the options from there. He did keep saying it doesn't look good but I'm not prepared to give up on little lily just yet!

Of you guys that have had experience with anything similar, what are your views? Any suggestions at all? Xx

Good on lily being happy in herself & happy to be back home. I just wanted to send her my well wishes as I'm afraid I've no experience or knowledge to impart

Hey.
My Rabbit has a middle ear infection and has just had a total ear canal ablation. I'm a first time Rabbit owner so I'm by no means an expert but if you have any questions then feel free to pm me :)
Lots of love to you and Lily xx
