  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Milo is ill...

Got home from work and he refused his dinner. He ran away whenever I went near him. Then he repeatedly flopped out, as though he couldn't get comfy...flopped got up flopped got up...and all in really hidden places. Rushed him to the vet before they closed and she said everything looks and seems ok. she checked his tum and said all felt fine, checked his mouth and teeth eyes ears and bum and all was ok. I've noticed a few poos that are smaller but that's all. She's given some critical care but I'm already going out of my mind. If something happens to him it will kill me. He's my baby! Vibes would be appreciated even though I know I'm prob being over dramatic

Oh bless, sending Milo healing vibes. It sounds to me like he may have tummy pain, with the unable to get comfortable symptoms. Do you have any Metacam you could give him?

Don't have any meds here. The vet was reluctant to give anything as he was really stressed and she didn't want to upset him more and suggested we give him overnight with critical care. Any advice on what I can do would be greatly appreciated x

How confident are you in your vet? I don't think that if a rabbit is stressed, it shoud make a vet reluctant to give medication if its needed. How is he now?
