  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Vibes for Bobby

sorry to hear he is still feeling poorly, did the vet send him home with pain meds and gut stimulants? also is your vet rabbit savy? and have you had any skull x-rays done in past to see the extent of the teeth, it maybe tooth roots , I really do hope he picks up soon, if you can offer food finely cut I used to give my nethie shredded carrots to encourage eating she wasn't a dental bun but when she was older she became sore with arthiritis pain etc she managed the shredded carrots, anything you can tempt him with be it herbs, forage etc do try

Hi
Yes my vet is very good, he was sent home with gut stimulants, no pain meds, he has had skull xrays in the past and today and stomach xray today. The thing is he is eating at the vets but not at home, odd, but if he is on painkillers at vets he will be able to eat. I only had loxicom at home which I gave him but it made no difference. I have tried all sorts, I get lots of forage because of his teeth, tried lots of soft veg herbs etc, soft pellets. Will get update tomorrow.

Oh Pandora, I'm so sorry!

Praying for a good outcome for Bobby and that the tests come back all clear for him

Update on Bobby - 19.4.16

Good news Bobby is home and eating again. He is so much more alert and interested in food than he was. It has taken about 10 days for him to recover from the dental. So pleased to have him back.
