Mama Doe
Very sadly Nemo my foster rabbit from Rabbit Residence Rescue passed away on 1st February.
He became unwell on Sunday afternoon and was lethargic and refused food, he's such a lively bun and a greedy boy too I knew something was very wrong and suspected a blockage of some kind.
We rushed him and sister Claudia to the emergency vets where they treated him for stasis despite my concerns that it was a blockage admitted him gave him Iv fluids, pain medication and motility drugs as well as syringe feeding throughout the night.
He was transferred to the exotics specialist I use early Monday morning where he died as they were prepping him for surgery for a blockage as his stomach had ruptured. The post mortem revealed a blockage in the small intestine and they said that he would have had to have been pts anyway when I questioned them regarding had he received incorrect treatment from the emergency vets especially given that they used Metoclopramide and were syringe feeding every two hours despite a suspected blockage.
I'm absolutely gutted and I feel like I let him down very badly. I'm heartbroken for little Claudia and that he died alone as the emergency vets wouldn't let her stay with him. He must have been in so much pain.
He was such a sweet, gentle, beautiful bunny and Claudia and I will miss him very, very much.

Miss you little man you will never be forgotten.
