  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Daves in stasis/ Second episode

It may not go back to normal. I have had cases where an upright ear has remained flopped forever thereafter.

However, you'll love him just the same

 Oh goodness, it will get some getting used to if that's the case  He does look rather odd & the ear appears to have a mind of its own! As long as it doesn't bother him then that's the main thing :)

Yeah I must say it was a shock when it happened to one of my rabbits for the first time. However, as you say, if it doesn't bother them, it doesn't bother us :D

Dave had another stasis episode over the weekend. He was admitted into the hospital on Saturday afternoon and came home yesterday evening. He's still not himself but is improving.

He stole a few of the nurses hearts by the sound of it

Oh poor lad  Has the Vet been able to identify any possible causes of the second episode ? I hope that Dave will soon be 100% better xx

Sending loads of vibes for Dave. I hope that he will soon be completely back to normal.

Oh no, sorry to hear this :(

I hope he improves soon. Did they check his teeth?

Not been able to identify a cause unfortunately. He does have an on-going issue with his hocks so I guess that's a possibility, although I've not noticed any bleeding from them recently xx

His hocks were bleeding the day I took him on :( His previous owner kept him on unsuitable flooring. I agree that it's unlikely they're what caused his stasis episode over the weekend.
