  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Up.Boss says he is fine as treatment same if bad sprain or break but its been four weeks now and no improvement. He licks the back foot and it trembles when he does it.Apparently its too expensive and he should get better by himself. He is my bosses rabbit.Broke down at work today as its breaking my heart. He was on excellent but that's too expensive now.Apparently if he is eating then can't be that bad :-(((

I can see why you're upset. I'm sorry. I don't suppose you could tell your boss that its an offence to know an animal is ill and not to have it treated - I think that's the case but I'm sure the boss wouldn't thank you for saying so.

Sending you and the rabbit supportive vibes.
How are you otherwise, jackiestone?

I am OK thank you.Just can't cope with seeing this lovely bunny with his back foot out.He has only been to the vet once with his leg.Three weeks ago and no improvement. He isn't going to get better.A colleague says it is probably looking worse than it is ,..........

It is. Under section 4 Animal Welfare Act 2006. It has a starting point of 18weeks immediate custody and a range of up to 26 weeks custody

Her argument is that he has been to the vets already and they can't put a leg in plaster but I think they can.I am thinking of abducting him

Thank you.How is the best way to explain to her? Her usual comment is that she had rabbits as children and never went to the vet and that his medicine was £30 which is very reasonable to me but not to her.She thinks she has done her bit and that if he is eating he must not be in pain.Which I don't agree.Another colleague who is higher up than me says it should be x rayed but she was told "a lot of fuss over a rabbit". He has lots of Timothy Hay and a big hutch.we don't know how he hurt his leg

So sorry to hear about this - not sure where you work - (a school or something?)

Can you offer to take him on and treat him?
