Someone is getting naughty

So our rabbit Hartley has started taking a real interest in trying to eat every bit of furniture in the house and as of about 5 mins ago he's started taking an interest in eating and trying to dig up the only bit of carpet we have in the house on our staircase.

Is it possible to train him to not do this and if so how would I go about starting that.

I've seen some sprays you can buy to put a scent on things but i'm not 100% convinced. Has anyone tried these?

When mine try to dig at the carpet I put some cardboard down. They prefer ripping that up as its easier. Could try putting some by the stairs and see if it distracts from it?
