I have asked about this before and told the risk was low but just want to bldouble check.
Bertie has ec that affects his eye. He has a cateract and has had his lens rupture 3 times since January. He hasn't had a problem with lense rupture since the end of April so everything seems stable. He was treated with 28 days of lapizole which ended in April.
We lost Ruby around 4 weeks ago. It could have been ec but the vet and myself expect not due to her having received lapizole also in April and her head tilt reacting positively to antibiotics.
Bertie is lonely. He has stopped chewing his hutch (his favourite passtime) and has allowed me to stroke him (his least favorite passtime). So I want to get him a friend. However I do not want to put a bunny at risk and not do I want to adopt a bunny who knowingly has ec. I have 2 young children and really cannot take on another rabbit that I know has a medical condition. If a rabbit develops a medical condition in my care of course I will deal with this.
I am considering getting a baby bunny if I can. My mum knows someone who has some babies, (not a breeder). Would a bond work out ok? If I treat both bunnies with lapizole before they meet?
Thanks
