  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

He's broken his jaw in a really bad way. They said he could be referred to a bone specialist at another vets but there's no guarantee that they could do anything for him and he would have to be tube fed until then. They've basically asked me for my permission to put him to sleep. He's under sedation at the moment and I'm to decide whether I want to go and see him as they'd rather not wake him up. It's all too much to take in. He's only 2

That is a really terrible result. Bunnies have such a fragile skeleton and they really get up speed when they're spooked. I'm sure you'll make the best decision for him. So very sorry.

I have only just caught up with this and I am so very sorry that Barney could not get better.

Thinking of you and Chloe. xx

Oh no I'm so very very sorry, I just don't know what to say. Sending you hugs. Binky free beautiful Barney xxxxxx

I'm so sorry :( it was a freak accident and there was nothing you could have done. I hope you're alright xx

How tragic for you, Barney, and Chloe. You tried so hard to help him and I am sure it feels awful that there is nothing else that can be done.
