Mrs. Bunny
New Kit
Hi everyone,
Recently posted in the introduction area being a newbie!!.
Ok, I will try and keep this short and to the point, I have a male house bunny "BB" who has been neutered, he is clean and uses the litter tray for wee and droppings absolutely fine with no issues.
We then got two females, Cotton-tail & Mopsy to bond with BB, they were doing droppings around their confined run from day one so I put litter trays in out the cage whilst we bonded them with BB. At that stage they were in seperate indoor runs with wire between them, we did the usual by hanging the hay by the litter tray to help them eat and do droppings in the correct place.
The girls started to get hormonal and weeing all around in their pen so we had them speyed on the 28th May, the humping and weeing stopped instantly and they did all wee in their litter tray but the poos still continue to be scattered around. I thought having read on the internet it can take up to 2 months for hormones to settle down which was fine but it now seems like this is becoming a habit rather then hormones or is it?.
The girls are now mixing very well with BB and I did think as the girls went back to their cage at night and BB to his that I was starting the scent marking everytime I let them out to mix again so we have since converted two 4ft cages into one, in an 'L' shape and they now mix all day and night together, however the scattered droppings still persist?.
Weather depending they go outside for a bigger run around but the droppings are all over the area outside, this is fine on the grass but do you think this is confusing them when they come back indoors again that they can scatter the dropping all over too like they do outside?.
Any suggestions/tips welcome.
