  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

exotic vet specialist in East Anglia needed

kevin

Young Bun
Can anyone recommend an exotic specialist in east anglia (ideally suffolk but will travel) who can help with our little mans broken leg ?

I'd have thought that Ian cope at Cambridge vet group (I think I've got those details right) would be your best bet round that way. Or William Lewis at orchid vet in Brentwood, but Cambs would probably be nearer for you.

Best of luck with your little one x

Hope you find someone. I know a fantastic one in Kent but you would have to drive 2 hours so hopefully you will find one closer.

Ian Cope at Cambridge veterinary Surgery - Cherry Hinton Rd, Cambridge - on south side of Cambridge so come in via A14 then round outside.

He is a fabulous surgeon and an accredited Exotics vet specialising in rabbits etc.

So not just a rabbit savvy vet but on ar with the fully trained vets at the Edinburgh school etc 9where he was originally trained).

He is up to date on all treatments and is n excellent surgeon and also very very very easy to talk to.

01223 249331 and book in with Iain.

Yes, Iain Cope. I live in Ipswich and my vets are exceptionally good but when we need a specialist, we go to Iain Cope in Cambridge. Our normal vets practice is Orwell Vets Group and we see Charles, Katherine or Ellie- just incase you're looking for a regular practice. :)

Thanks all we will go to ian. We have a very good regular vet but they have said that this is above them. Our little man seems to have broken his leg sometime last year and has shown no sign of a problem but the last few weeks he has had trouble moving around and after a few x tays it show an old break which has healed behind the knee and this is where the problem is. Hopefully ian may be able to help 😊 Once again thanks for all the help.

Another vote for Iain! He is who Rabbit Residence use (almost on a very expensive weekly basis) for their more complex surgeries such as tumour removal, molar removal and fixing fractured legs.

Well he's booked in tomorrow afternoon to see ian and if all goes to plan should have an op next Wednesday. Thanks so much for the recommendation and quick responses 😊
