  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Help!! - Female Rabbit just been neutered.

Just seen your thread Rusty, and so pleased you managed to get her to eat and poo OK :D

Yes, lots of talk about poo here

You mentioned a water bottle .... An experiment that vets did with water bowls and bottles showed that they drank more when given a bowl. This important for a healthy digestion and also to prevent urinary infections and bladder sludge (none of which she has!)

Welcome to the Forum ....

I have tried with a bowl but she up-ends it, not particularly happy with it but I have seen her water bottle go down slowly and when I feed her dandilion I soak them in water first. When I give her medicine on a morning/evening I tend to put a syringe of water in her mouth too as back up :D.

Really appreciate the information, all very helpful.

So pleased she'd presented you with a lovely pile of poo! :)

Her new friend is absolutely gorgeous

Me too, I could relax a little more once I saw that :D and thank you, I wanted him straight away. Now have to start the bonding process bit
