Squeaking noise??

Anyone have their bun make a squeaky noise? The past few days Buster has been making an odd squeaking noise. No other symptoms, nice and dry around the eyes and mouth. No discharge, no sneezing just an odd squeak. bright as he normally is too. Took him to the vets today and he listened to his chest and that, said to monitor him and ring up tomorrow. Any ideas?

My bunny is very vocal generally, always has been - but he started 'squeaking' in December, when he was toileting, a vet trip revealed nothing...however, he went on to develop a Urine infection. I would say, keep your bunny in sight of you for a few hours, and see if there is any sign of straining or 'baring down' when squeaking. Littleblack didn't do anything else but squeak in the early stage, which actually started in the second week of December.

Is the dropping 'output' normal as far as you can tell?

If you can keep him on a tray for 2 hours or so, so you can see Buster's urine, and when he does it too - is it normal colour, or got a change in smell?

Is there a pattern to the squeaking - like could it be a warning thing, or a call for attention if you or someone passes Buster?

Any change to eating and drinking?

Any history of any other conditions with him?

No history of other conditions, he doesn't seem to do it when eating hay in his tray. It seems to be more of a cough now than a squeaking. He is nearly 3 and I haven't heard him make these kind of noises before.
I have 2 together and there doesn't seem to be anything on the paper underneath the hay wee wise. No red wee or sludge.
He doesn't squeak when he is lying down or in tray eating just seems when hes sat up and about. His dropping output seems fine.
He lives indoors in a large space on carpet with two litter trays. I kept the heating off yesterday evening in case the heat was a factor but kept making odd noises.

I did try and do a couple of videos last night so I could let the vet hear. The audio isn't very good it is louder in "real life"

They arnt very good. You can hear it on the 12 second video on seconds 5 6 and 7 and on the 20 second video seconds 9, 10, 12 and 14. Its like he is making a noise forcing air out his nose. x

Sounds to me like he's trying to breath through his nose, and has a bit of difficulty. Has your vet suggested a course of antibiotics in case of infection? If there's (invisible to you) mucous up there, something like Bisolven would help. I have a rabbit who does this sporadically, and I make sure his nose is always as clean as possible as it doesn't affect his day to day life.

The vet didn't want to give him antibiotics unless the noise gets worse or he shows any other symptoms.

That's wise advice as the over-use of abx can do more harm than good.

I would keep a close eye on him and also weigh him every couple of days. If he is losing weight and/or if he develops worse/new symptoms I'd ask the Vet to take a look at him again
