Run needed

Jonathan

New Kit
Could you guys advise on this:

Just bought our first rabbit and a Hutch and Down Double 129x49x99 cm

We want to buy a run. The petshop tried to sell us a metal one which we turned down as we have read about these and want a wooden one.

Pets First have some runs for sale-Rose Rabbit Run but these are specifically for there hutches. They may well attach to our hutch but I'm not sure.

Can anyone advise us what to do, we want a wooden run that we know will attach to our Hutch and Down Double. What would be best?

Thanks

well welfarehutches.co.uk do good runs as well as ukrabbithutches. welfarehutches also do a tunnel connection that is good to connect hutch to run for 29.99.

Welfare hutches have some fantastic sized runs and their prices are amazing: http://www.welfarehutches.co.uk/Range_of_Runs/cat1466126_1727922.aspx, as do boyles pet housing who are active on this forum: http://www.boylespethousing.co.uk/rabbit-housing/rabbit-runs.html. Alternatively it may be easier, quicker and cheaper to ask a local person to do it - just make sure that it's at least 8 x 4 x 2 ft with thick solid timber of at least 50mm (preferably 75mm). The mesh also needs to be galvanised weld mesh of at least 1 x 1/2 inch (preferably 1/2 x 1/2 inch) and at least 19g thick.

A good way to connect them up would be to use the runaround system - http://www.runaround.co.uk/. You can then place the run wherever you want. If you want them next to each other you could push them very close and simply use a door by itself with no tubes - http://www.runaround.co.uk/products/runaround-door-1.

However my best advice would be to order a combined hutch/run from a good retailer, and return the hutch you have if at all possible. There's a few manufacturers who seem to sell a hutch with your name and unfortunately it's one of the hutches that appear to be cheaply built and won't last. If it is made with the cheap wood that we've all come across then it's false economy, and if there's any minor flaw which you could take it back over I would strongly recommend it as so many of us have bought these hutches and they've not lasted. A fantastic size setup can then be bought for a very decent price, and gets rid of the hutch/run connection problem for you: http://www.welfarehutches.co.uk/product/6ft rabbit hutch with 4ft under run
