  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Ec baby rabbits?

How young can baby buns safely have panacur. Someone contacted me re an accidental litter. One bun was very poorly, small and off balance. My first thought was ec, vet couldn't be sure thought maybe curved spine and splay legs from birth defect. However a second baby is now running in circles. Babies are 4 weeks old.

I have never had cause to use Fenbendazole on a kit that young. I would advise the person to locate a Rabbit Savvy Vet and to take all the kits and the Doe to be examined. Whilst EC is a possibility there are other reasons for neurological symptoms in Kits so I would want to try to obtain an accurate diagnosis before risking administering any medication to such young kits.

Sadly the vet isnt rabbit savy, they caused the litter by misexing the rabbits to start with. They alao offered her free worming on Saturday which they will give in one dose. The owner isnt coping and wants the bunnies gone. Sadly as ive just took in a bunny that was going to be pts I have nowhere suitable to quarantine them so my hands are tied. Apparently p@h have offered to take them and treat.

Could you suggest the person takes the Rabbits to the Vet you use ? Assuming the person is local to you.
