Help needed finding good quality large hutch quickly. ud pt 13

foxy2279

Alpha Buck
I have four rabbits and two guinea pigs.

I had planed to get them a shed. Today my landlord came round to talk about it and has told me No i can't have it. He went out into the garden and has said i need to reduce my hutch/run bases down or consider rehoming some of my animals as they are taking over the garden. Ok he has a fair point on that one.

On talking to him i realised he thought the four rabbits would be in one double hutch (a layer each). So after talking to him i know what he will find acceptable.

I need a triple layer hutch as long as possible and folding wooden runs. The folding runs are a con on my part as they will only be folded away when the landlord comes. I have runaround connections so can attach them to the hutch.

If anyone can help i would be very grateful. He has given me 8 weeks to sort it out.

What's your budget?

I have about £600 that i have saved for the shed/avairy set up and how ever much i can get for my current setups.

Ryedale sadly are out due to access issues. We have a very limited space to get things through. Most things go over the 6ft 5 back wall.

I was just looking on happy hutch company and saw these things:
they are quite expensive, but they are good.

1. Triple hutch - however only goes up to 4ftW 54"H 2ftD
http://www.happyhutch.co.uk/double-and-triple-rabbit-hutches/86

2. Double hutch- this goes up to 6ftW 4ftH 2ftD, the eqivelent of two 6x2x2's piggies might have to find somewehre else! :/

3. Single hutch- 6x2x2 perhaps you could find a way to put three on top of each other?

However- if you definitely wanted a triple hutch you are better getting it custom made, finding a specialist website. I know lots of people on here have massive triple hutches and things

Folding runs -
most are found on ebay or amazon

hmmm.... these aren't very big because they need to fold- you might have to attach two together...

ps sorry i found the runs quite quickly

I'm sure someone on here makes hutches, is it worth putting a request out on Rabbit Chat?

Thank you everyone.

Bunnies are currently in.

Buster and Brownie base of 6ft double hutch with 6 ft x 8ft run with runaround tube to 6ft x 4ft
Belle and Bramble base of 5ft double hutch with 6ft x 4ft run (they bonded quicker than i was ready for) with same runaround connection.
Piggie's Trixie and Tallulah 5ft single with daily access to a 6ft by 4ft run.

As you can see its a lot of runs and hutches so he has a point on that. I thought having a triple hutch would be easier as everyone would be in the same space.

Could you take a photo of what it all currently looks like - then perhaps we could all make suggestions how to 'clean it up' and look less like they're taking over?

What's his reason for saying no to a shed?

He just said sorry its a no to the shed. He never gave a reason. Will get some pictures tonight.

Kernow Pet Housing in Plymouth. Pilch builds to order and to your spec and can build triple storey hutches. If you have a look on my rescue Facebook page there are loads of photos of his work in my albums (rescue or boarding accommodation). You will easily get a three storey block for your budget.

I bought a new double block a few months back 8x3x3 on each storey - with extra height on the top storey making it about 4 1/2 ft tall in the middle on that floor, and it came in at £475.

website is simply Kernowpethousing.co/uk

Happy hutch can custom make things to order and can do so pretty quickly - I looked into getting a custom run from them once.

There is manor pet housing on fb as well: https://www.facebook.com/Manorpethousing

There's someone on here that does it too.... I think his name is Dan but I can't remember his user name. He has a website.

Have you considered just keeping the double hutch and making it into 2 singles? Would save you a lot of money.

Thank you everyone.

I had a call from my landlady last night. She did say that husband was out of order about rehoming some of the animals. She has asked me to cut the runs down to one each. She did say one between them until i explained about the need for space and look into a way of getting them all into one area. Which i don't object to. Now have to work out how to get a 6ft and 5 ft double and a 5 ft single with one run into a space of 12ft x 8ft. The other can go on the grass as its unwired. This should be fun when my bonded pairs hate the sight of each other. The guinea girls have one of the old metal runs so is easy to take down.

I did a sneaky ask to her about the shed. She said that if i do as they ask with the pets we can talk it over when they come round next.

I'm a bit confused :? S have you only got to get it down to 1 run per hutch now?-which can fold up.

No idea is this has already been mentiond, but I have a hutch run combo on order from http://www.gardenwoodcraft.co.uk/

They are extremely helpful, and should easily be within your budget! They flat pack it all, and assemble it at your place for about £20 delivery, and coat it all with rabbit safe wood sealant stuff. They also do a lot of bespoke stuff, mine is bespoke, and have great reviews. My hutch is coming this weekend, so exited!

I have also got a 6x4 collapsible run with a hide hutch, whis is great, the quality lack a bit, but its a good price, and can be easily strengthened. It's also a great size. (Plus it keeps my parents happy as I take it off the lawn each night)

Hope this helps, sorry if you already had an answer, I'm sleepy and couldn't be bothered to read the whole thread (lazy I know)

The welfare hutch company built my triple hutch 7.5ft x 2.5ft x 6.5ft tall.

I can't remember exactly what I paid, it was around £500.

It was flat packed but very easy to assemble.

If you could add onto the 6ft runs to make each 8ft x 4ft that would all fit into the 12ft x 8ft space. The piggies could use the run on the grass?

I know they will of lost space but its still inkeeping with the RWA guidelines.

I would board up one side of the run so the buns can't see each other if you have issues with referred aggression.
