Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

worried sick :(

Ive tried tons of different types, hes just not interested, he fills up on pellets so isnt bothered about it.

Yes its the pasturella :( the infection has been so chronic constantly fighting it is making him loose weight. It has been better recently but he's had 'active' pasturella since November last year :(

Oh dear :( poor little love.

It may be worth having a bit of alfalfa hay constantly available, because it is generally considered very yummy by buns because it is high in nutrients. And even if he just has a little nibble it will be good for his teeth but also good for building his weight up. You could mix some in with his pellets.

Will he eat greens?

I normally mix his pellets with hay so he has to forage for it but he gets bored very quickly and doesn't really bother!

He loves greens but too much upsets his tummy.

The vets just called, he's awake and well but not eating or drinking yet :D

Busters in for a dental tomorrow, my vets have made a point of telling me that because his pasturella is still bad that the GA is going to be seriously risky. Im so stuck, he's barely eaten for 4 days, he's in pain with his teeth and the two top front teeth are over grown and he has spurs in the backs, the dental has to be done and they cant do it whilst he's conscious.

His health has been one this after another since the day i got him and its really wearing me down with the worry. In just two years he's had a tooth root abcess, two tear duct abcesses, gut problems, bladder problems, incontinence, snuffles, 4 dentals and tear duct flushes. He's so loving and cuddly and gives us so much, he really doesn't deserve all of this

Please send him vibes, thank you

Poor bunny :(

Get well soon Buster xxx

Hope he feels better soon.

Have you tried giving him junior pellets? They helped keep weight on my snuffle bun. Also pro-fibre pellets as they help them to absorb the nutrients from their food.

He's home and i am so relieved

He still isn't eating but he's probably just stressed to be honest.

Now to worry about the bill!

So glad he's home :thumb: he prob wont be himself until much later or maybe even tomorrow

I'm guessing that was the longest and worst day ever for you -I know because I was the same last month when willow ha a lump removed

I can honestly say that after major surgery for his jaw abcess then 2 more operations to remove a tear duct abcess plus having dentals every six months it never feels any easier when he's going for a GA!It always scares me.

They've said today that his jaw isn't aligned properly and he's chewing more one one side so its likely the dentals will be regular for the rest of his life, its not a huge shock, i did think this would be the case. I just hope it stays at every 6 months because i honestly cant afford to do it more frequently than that
