Ill do my best but I'm never going to win the battle to keep him away totally so, is it harmful?!

What kind of tree? Real ones are toxic I believe, whether that's the right word or not I don't know but they're harmful!

Fake ones, can you raise it off the ground or have a puppy pen around it?
 
It's real.

I asked as I recall reading somewhere ages ago that they were harmful.

None of my other buns have ever bothered (presumably because it is bad for them) but Hector will eat anything..... :(
 
Oh and I like the puppy pen idea but Hector is a 4 ft giant who is capable of breaking down doors!!
 
I would think he's unlikely to come to harm from the odd nibble. Do watch out for like cords/chocolates though as they're not so good.
