Which specific pellet do you recommend here?

Hi there,

I have a bun named NewNew. He is about one year and 5 months and pretty strong. But I am upset by the quality of the pellets we can get in my country. I used to use Oxbow but lately I've heard it's been rebagged by the importer who I don't trust with. So I may buy online from overseas website. Which product do you recommend? Can you offer me a link to it?

Hello :wave:

I use science selective :) I buy a 5kg bag and it lasts me 3(ish) months :) My pair get a handful between them a day :thumb: Pellets should be regarded as a treat, they don't need feeding constantly :) Hay is the most important part of their diet :thumb: (sorry if you already knew that! :))

I suppose amazon could be used? (UK links, not sure what to look at! I've never really thought about it if it gets shipped overseas)
A 3kg bag;

10kg bag;

There are quite a few different pellets that people on this forum use and it seems to vary between the different bunnies which one suits them best.

This :thumb: For example, I was going to change mine over to excel but quite a few people said it made their bunnies poo go all horrible and with mine having very sensitive tummies it wasn't worth it. But for other bunnies it's fine :)

Thank you for the reply. I feed my bun on hay, fresh veggies and pellets (about 40G a day). it seems that the science selective pellet is really big. Does your bun nibbles on it?

:thumb: They're not that big, here is a picture of my current bag :)

They are longer than normal pellets but have a good amount of fibre in and according to my ravenous bunnies, they taste pretty good too :thumb: :lol:

Welcome!:wave:

I use the Beaphar Care Plus at the moment:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Beaphar-Car...J8ZU/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1351761438&sr=8-8

It's expensive but bunny loves the junior version.

In the past I've used Excel with oregano and the mature Excel:

I wonder if my bun can use the junior version cuz i think it's for young rabbit right?

I can get excel here but the storage is not reliable. I am just worried that I haven't given him the best because I don't know which one is the best..I may go for science selective and i even think of the new product 'fibafirst', but my bun nibbles on big size pellet and make it a big mess. So i am in dillema now..

I normally feed mine Oxbow bunny basics T. One of mine had a dental a few weeks ago and I could not get her to eat the pellets so a friend gave me some science selective and she took them immediately and now loves them. She is now back on her BBT but I do give them the SS as a treat. The SS are a lot bigger than the BBT pellets but more "airy" and not has hard I don't think.

I use harringtons optimum (wagg). She wont eat anything else. Tried her with wee bits of ss but she just turned her nose up at it. Suits me because waggs quite cheap compared to some ;)

I give him BBT now but the importer has rebagged the pellets recently and i don;t trust them..I may try ss.

Analytical Constituents: Protein 13.5%, Fat Content 4.5%, Crude Fibre 17%, Crude Ash 7%, Calcium 0.7%, Phosphorous 0.5%.

i heard the proper fat intake is 1-2%. Maybe this one is too high???

Heey,

I use excel & supreme science select!

I used to use excel for them all, and mixed it in with the oregano one :)

But then Excel changed the recipe to include egg shells and it upset Nismos tum & made Moops skin go all flakey!
They really enjoy the ss :)

My lions however love the excel & have never had any problems! I will have to move them onto ss soon, as they are gonna get group bonded in February :)

I moved my guys on to fiber first recently and have been quite impressed with it. However when I looked at the ingredients its got peas and soya in it which I really feel shouldnt be in a rabbit feed I know most of the supreme foods have peas in.

I have also tried the excell sensitive which smelt lovely and my guys love but its not got any hay in it!

I think I'll go back to allen and page natural unless I can find another pellet with better more "natural" ingredients

I had no idea all the foods varied so much in ingredients til now!
