Limited Poos During Day-Normal?

sonnet

Alpha Buck
I know in the wild rabbits would poo mostly at night but is this the same with domestic rabbits generally?

Since I've not been able to get hold of Dylan's favourite hay ('Ings') he doesn't seem to eat his hay during the daytime. This is somewhat annoying as I feel it has affected his 'poo production'- we have very limited poos in the day & a lovely pile in his litter tray overnight (when he eats his other hay!). I wish he'd poo more during the day as it makes me start fretting that his tum is slowing down again (had 2 nasty bouts of bloat 1 month ago).

His daily diet is:
15grams of Excel pellets morning & evening
Unlimited hay day & night (a variety offered-meadow, timothy/rye & oat)
Mixed herbs/leaves at night
I'm hesitant to cut down on the pellets as he's quite a slim rabbit.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get more poos during the day?!

Sorry I too love the picture, where did you get his pink hidey from, sure Doughnut would love that!

As for poos well when I saw a rabbit specialist and Doughnut had slowed down eating, she said not to worry as rabbits eat at dusk and dawn. Why I worried was because Doughnut eats non-stop! She said sometimes they don't eat during the day. I know that's not much help but because dusk is later now and dawn is early, maybe that has a little to do with it.

My bunny uses a litter tray only so can moniter poos etc:shock: and he produces very little of either from mid morning when I clean litter tray to mid evening when he goes back into cage ( he has free access to cage all day and only uses litter tray in cage).
Overnight is when he produces the bulk of both and this is normal for him.

Oh thanks that's exactly the same as Dylan! :thumb:

Thanks for your reply :thumb:

I got his hidey which has castle like mounds on the top of it (so I call it his castle) from my local garden centres pet department a few years ago-he loves it!

Mine tend to sleep during the middle of the day so don't poop a lot then. Late morning and early evening they do though

Normal with my two also. I tidy up at night and clean the litter tray. Then there are hundreds of poos by morning (sometimes not even in the litter tray!)
