Today I went to the stables nice and early.

Fed all the horses and turned out, my friend turned up and fed hers turned hers out, put the Mare and foal out, Foal wasnt looking too well.

He had chipped the front of his feet a few days before and wouldnt really walk, we called the vet for advice and he wanted to come and see him.

He came up, checked him over, and said he was very ill and needed intensive care.

On closer inspection, Mare wasnt producing enough milk for him, Vet rang round to find some milk for him, but in the end had to get it from the vets 45mins away (Equine Specialist) he gave him a tiny shot of penicillin to fight of any infection that might be present.

We put him back with mum and left them alone, I went to check on them 30mins later and he was flat out on the concrete, stood him up thining thats not a smart place to lay, and he didnt even have the strength to stand,

He went downhill so rapidly, I had him laid in my arms for about 2 hours, waiting for his owner to return with milk and then waiting for the vet as he wouldnt feed, we tried him with sugar water, and that really purked him up,

I swapped with someone else holding you, keeping you warm, after you were gasping for air, I finally felt your little heart stop beating.

You were such a beautiful little foal, a handsome lad, but it was not to be.

Vet turned up about 15minutes after you had taken your last breath.

We are all in such shock, you were a happy healthy foal the day before.

Run free at rainbow bridge little one.
