Fifibutton
Wise Old Thumper
Bonnie is an angel now Everything was peaceful and dignified for her and she had happiness until the last. I gave her a chocolate digestive which she guzzled up in favour of leafy herbs. She was very relaxed at the vet and we got a chance to say goodbye before she was taken into the room for the procedure. The vet wrapped her up very lovingly in her blankets and we took her home. Nori her husbun was allowed to see her body to help him understand why she won’t be with him any more. Bonnie was buried in a nice cosy box on a bed of straw with a daffodil and the rest of her biscuit. She was given a blanket of straw and laid into the ground in her beloved garden. She was 7 and a half so a very good age. She was born in our garden to one of our rescue bunnies (we did not know she was pregnant) and so from her first day to her last has known the happiness of luscious green stems and golden sunshine. She loved to bask in the sunlight so this last two weeks of glorious weather has been wonderful for her. She has returned to the earth from which she was born, the very earth which supported the grass her pregnant mother ate so she truly is a part of that garden and I know she loved it best of all the happiness that was in her life. And she had a lot of happiness despite the pain towards the end. She was a lucky lucky rabbit and she was very loving and kind and sweet and everyone loved her for it. She was Bonnie by name and bonnie by nature as well as bonnie to look at.
Sleep tight my little flower princess, you are with your mummy, brother and sisters now, let them look after you as we will look after your loved ones here on earth. The world is a little less bright now but your light and beauty will shine above us from your eternal paradise.
I have been looking through my vast store of Bonnie photos and nearly all of them show her in a lush green garden, where she was truly happiest. I'd like to share some with you and remember her as a beautiful flower girl.
