The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

    Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Myxomatosis Outbreaks 2012/13/14

I can confirm a case in Cricklade, Wiltshire SN6 6HE, of the date 13/11/14 in a wild rabbit.

Just had to do the right thing, he didnt suffer.

Just heard on Facebook there was a veterinary confirmed case of Myxi in Retford area which is near Sheffield. :\

My 2yr old English lop has just caught myxi. He had the combined vaccine and is not due for his booster until july13th. It's not the nodular form unfortunately but the nasty kind. His eyes are swollen and his ears feel heavy with fluid. He has been given baytril and metacam and has been eating greens and herbs. Has anyone experienced this with their vaccinated rabbits. A couple of years ago my fully vaccinated French lop caught the nodular kind and recovered well. What are the chances of recovery do you think when it's not nodular in a vaccinated rabbit. His breathing is quite noisy. So hard to know what to do. Any advice please as I feel completely gutted for him. X
 
So sorry to read this. It's my understanding that it's the breathing aspect that is the most worrying. Perhaps discuss with your vet nebulising to keep infection under attack. Perhaps change antibiotic but your vet would have more to say about that.

If you're a RWAF member your vet can consult with Richard Saunders on this, just get them to email hq@rabbitwelfare.co.uk. Otherwise it is something that needs concerted intervention so it would be best if your vet consults with a specialist and asks about what to use in a nebuliser (F10 antiseptic is commonly used) and which antibiotics would be the most effective.

One of my rabbits recently had raspy breathing associated with a urine infection and Septrin was what brought it all under control within a few hours.

Nebulisers are very reasonably priced on eBay and Amazon with quite fast delivery

Lots of wildie cases suspected around University Boulevard (NG7-NG9 corridor) south of Uni Park, Nottingham. That's 10mins walk from my house :(

Hi, I am not a rabbit owner but I work outdoors near Barrow in Furness. The wild rabbits here are coming down very suddenly with Mixomatosis, I'd not seen any with it until a few days ago and now I see a few every day. I wanted to try and let anyone with rabbits in the Furness area know, they are such lovely wee things and it's sad to see them sick.
