  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Myxomatosis Outbreaks 2012/13/14

Cross posted from here http://forums.rabbitrehome.org.uk/s...xo-RHD1-amp-RHD2-Updated-5th-September/page15

The reported cases of Myxomatosis are becoming more frequent by the day. Some cases are in Vaccinated Rabbits, so the viral challenge appears to be significant. Latest reports from Ipswich, Suffolk and Benfleet, Essex

Much talk is taking place regarding RHD2 at the moment, but please dont forget that Myxomatosis has not gone away and unvaccinated Rabbits have a very poor chance of surviving Myxo.

Hope this is all correct. My first sighting of rabbits with myxamatosis (At least i am 80% sure that was it), horrible thing to see, beautiful huge bunnies, almost golden, my partner got within a few inches of one rabbit before i noticed it was completely blind and probably deaf. Pussy, swollen eyes. Then another one further along. Seemed to be the whole warren.
Suspected Myxomatosis infected warren on the hills behind 'Shakey Bridge' just east of Llandrindod-Wells in Powys.
Spotted today 12/09/2018

Confirmed case of myxi in Cambridgeshire on 13/09/2018. Domesticated rabbit (we think Belgium Hare, we aren't 100% certain), vaccinated on 1st June 2018. Less than 6 months old.

Praying she pulls through this.

UPDATE: At 3.30pm on 14/09/2018, the rabbit had to be euthanised. Her sister is yet to show any signs.
