HOW have i missed this thread?! pretty hairband
im afraid i have no experience using the clay myself but i know you can buy copper clay as well as gold as silver which should be a little cheaper, i wonder if you can create a basic shape with the copper then cover it with a thin layer of the silver clay? im sure i've also seen people use a liquid version of the pmc to cover items such as leaves so presumably any combustible organic product could be used to create a basic shape which would then burn away which you 'fired' the clay leaving a hollow metal shape. perhaps paper could be used? or wax?:?
my latest polymer clay pieces: i thought i really should start making more necklaces and i wanted to create something based on my wavy zipper bangles but i hate making beads. i love the satin polish of sanded clay but the thought of sanded and buffing a pile of 50+ beads (and managing to sand and abrade parts of my nails/skin in the process) is just too depressing. this is a happy compromise : )
this started as a simple black and white bangle. i then drilled holes with a craft knife and a hand drill then 'backfilled' them with black clay , baked and sanded
